Challenges Facing Malawi
Malawi is a beautiful country filled with resilient people, but many communities face significant daily challenges. Limited access to consistent income, education, healthcare, and basic resources affects families across both rural villages and growing towns. For many, even everyday necessities can be difficult to obtain.
These conditions often place a strain on families and make it harder for individuals—especially young people—to reach their full potential. Yet in the midst of these challenges, there is a deep sense of community, strength, and a genuine openness to hope and truth.
At Malawi for Christ, we believe that lasting change begins with the Gospel. By supporting biblical teaching, equipping leaders, and serving communities with practical and timely help, we are working to bring both spiritual hope and meaningful support to those in need.

Flooding
Treacherous Weather
In recent years, Malawi has experienced severe and repeated flooding that has deeply affected many communities. Heavy rains and seasonal storms have caused rivers to overflow, damaging homes, destroying crops, and displacing families—especially in rural areas where resources are already limited.
For many families, flooding means the loss of everything they depend on. Homes are washed away, food supplies are destroyed, and access to clean water becomes even more difficult. These events not only create immediate hardship but can also impact communities for months or even years as they work to rebuild.
Yet even in the midst of these challenges, there is resilience and hope. Communities come together to support one another, and the opportunity to serve becomes even more critical. Through Malawi for Christ, we seek to respond with compassion—providing practical help while sharing the hope and truth found in Jesus Christ.
Clean Water
Filters of Hope
Access to clean drinking water remains a serious challenge for many communities in Malawi. In rural areas especially, families often rely on unsafe water sources such as rivers, shallow wells, or standing water. This can lead to waterborne illnesses that affect entire families, particularly children, making daily life even more difficult.
At Malawi for Christ, we believe something as basic as clean water can make a life-changing difference. Through our Filters of Hope initiative, we provide water filters to families and communities in need—giving them access to safe, clean drinking water.
But this effort goes beyond physical needs. Each filter represents an opportunity to share the Gospel and demonstrate the love of Christ in a practical way. As we provide clean water, we also share the message of living water—the hope, truth, and eternal life found in Jesus Christ.
Through Filters of Hope, lives are being improved, families are being strengthened, and hearts are being opened to the life-changing power of the Gospel.

Our Churches
Dirt Floors
Across many communities in Malawi, churches are built with whatever materials are available. It’s common for believers to gather in simple structures with tin roofs, open walls, and dirt floors. While these conditions reflect limited resources, they also reveal something powerful—a deep commitment to worship, fellowship, and the truth of God’s Word.
Despite the challenges, the church continues to grow. Men, women, and children come together faithfully, often sitting on the ground, eager to hear Scripture and be encouraged in their faith. These gatherings are filled with joy, unity, and a genuine hunger for biblical teaching.
At Malawi for Christ, we see an opportunity to come alongside these communities—to support and strengthen the local church. Whether through providing resources, encouraging leaders, or improving conditions where possible, our goal is to help create spaces where believers can gather, grow, and worship together with dignity and stability.
Even in the most humble settings, God is at work. The church in Malawi stands as a powerful reminder that faith is not defined by a building, but by hearts devoted to Christ.
It takes a village
Sharing the Gospel
Across the villages of Malawi, the Gospel is often shared not inside buildings, but out in the open—under the sun, in the heat, and in the heart of the community. Men, women, and children gather together in open spaces, sitting on the ground or standing close, eager to listen and learn.
In these moments, the conditions may be challenging. The heat can be intense, and there is little shelter or comfort. Yet the hunger for God’s Word is undeniable. People come not out of convenience, but out of a genuine desire to hear the truth of the Gospel and grow in their faith.
Through these village gatherings, the message of Jesus Christ is being shared in a powerful and personal way. Lives are being touched, hearts are being opened, and communities are being strengthened. What may seem like a simple gathering becomes something far greater—a place where hope is given, faith is built, and the love of Christ is made known.
At Malawi for Christ, we are honored to support and be part of this work—bringing the Gospel to where people are, no matter the conditions, and trusting God to continue transforming lives.
